I've moved onto an integrated amplifier so the Nelson Pass designed Class A, discrete, FET based preamplifier has to find a new home. It sounds natural, rich and has excellent musicality. It features: - Four line-level sources including tape-loop - Phono stage that accepts MM and MC phono pickups - Noble volume and balance controls - Detachable IEC Power Cord Why buy the Threshold FET 2 Series II? Many of today's preamplifiers use cheap, inexpensive op-amps that color the sound with an unpleasing haze. The Threshold FET 2 SII doesn't use op-amps so you get solid bass, a liquid mid-range with great harmonic texture, and natural highs. Compare this to the un-natural bass, sterile mid-range and hyper-detailed high's you get with preamplifiers that use op-amp's.
Aphrodite slim contextual font. The Threshold FET 2 Series II's discrete, fully Class A, FET design allows music to flow organically with soul. The Threshold FET2S2 was produced from 1981-85 which makes it vintage. It's been my main preamplifier for sometime and operates 100% now, but it's at least 27 years old so please take this into account before purchasing. The unit has been very well taken care and does NOT smell of smoke. The face plate is clean, the sides plates have some slight scratches that slightly visible and the top plate has some scratches and discolorations. These can be seen in the photos.
